About Dr. Arthur Aron

Dr. Arthur Aron is a Research Professor of Psychology at the State University of New York at Stony Brook and currently a Visiting Professor at UC Berkeley.  He received his B.A. and M.A., UC Berkeley and his Ph.D. Social Psychology from the University of Toronto. His research centers on the self-expansion model of motivation cognition in personal relationships, including the neural underpinnings and real-world applications of the model to marriage, family, and intergroup relations. He currently serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Personal Relationships, and Journal of Social and Personal Relationships.  He is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, the Association for Psychological Science, the Society of Personality and Social Psychology, and the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues.  He has received major grants from the National Science Foundation, the Fetzer Foundation, the Templeton Foundation, and the Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada.  He is a recipient of the Distinguished Research Career Award for the International Association for Relationship Research.
